Chivas whisky, the economy leader in European countries and Asia pacific

If there is just one whisky that is well known right across Asia pacific as a premium scotch whisky therefore it will have to be the Chivas whisky. This top quality whisky is generated by the Chivas borthers which thus is owned and operated by Pernod Ricard. Chivas whisky currently is the market leader in whiskies for 12 years or more. In fact the sales are actually steadily rising out of the year 2002 to 2011.

Chivas Regal Scotch whisky had been first developed in the year 1801 in Aberdeen, Scotland at the Strathisla Distillery in the Speyside region of Scotland.

There are primarily three main whiskies out of this family and they are Chivas Regal 12 year old, Chivas Regal 18 year old and Chivas Regal 25 year old. The 12 year old blended whisky provides a taste that reminds you about honey and ripe apples even while on the palate it feels round and creamy. There are as well ideas of hazelnut and butterscotch in the taste. The 18 year old mixed with whisky is matured for at least 18 years before it is bottled and tastes of orange and chocolates. On the smell it comes across as being citrus, spices and fruits. While on the palate you get spicy taste. Chivas Regal 25 year old is matured for 25 years or longer and tastes of apricot and peach.

There is long story behind this excellent drink. It was initiated by the Chivas brothers in the year 1801. They started a store that sold spices, Caribbean rum, coffee, and other food products to wealthy individuals. In the year 1842 after the visit of Queen Victoria to Scotland they were expected to provide goods to the royal family at Balmoral Castle. And in the year 1843 they were granted the desirable royal warrant to offer items to the Queen.

As their good reputation grew, customers often prosperous and affluent, would request them to present smooth whisky. Consequently, in the year 1850 James Chivas initiated to blend whiskies to produce smooth whisky that would meet his affluent consumers taste. He created a proprietary brand Chivas Brothers and generated the first blended with scotch whisky “Royal Glen Dee. This was shortly followed by yet another whisky the “Royal Strathythan”.

By the early 1900s the economy in the U.S was basically growing and to capture this market the Chivas brothers made the decision to create an aged whisky and it had been referred to as Chivas Regal. In the year 1909 Chivas Regal 25 year old was released and high quality brand and quickly seized the imagination of the Americans. They went on to enjoy amazing success till prohibition put a spoke in the wheel in 1920.

Seagrams decided to buy the Chivas Regal brand in the year 1949 and put into use their enormous marketing and sales network to further promote this top quality whisky. The moment the prohibition was first lifted and the Second World War was over Chivas launched their 12 year old. By now Chivas Regal had turned out to be highly popular and had a large loyal customer base. One of its really popular consumers was first the excellent Frank Sinatra.

The time the 20th century was over they already had 18 year old and 25 year old added to their list. Due to the breakup of the Seagrams Group, Chivas was purchased by Pernod Ricard in the year 2000 and it continues to be with them to this day.

Chivas whisky seems to have consistently performed perfectly and seems to have received various awards and medals at spirits competitions. On the San Francisco World spirit contest it garnered the gold medal in the year 2006 and 2008.
